Bled Castle launches its online ticket store on Mojekarte technology

The oldest castle in Slovenia, visited by more than 250,000 people from around the world every year, launched its own online ticket store on Mojekarte technology in April 2014. The store is available on the castle's official website and operates in four languages: Slovenian, English, German, and Italian.

Why launch an online store

The main goal was to give visitors the option to buy tickets in advance. This reduces congestion at the on-site box office during the summer peak and offers international tourists a convenient way to secure tickets before arriving in Slovenia. The online store operates 24 hours a day and is fully integrated with the Mojekarte BoxOffice cashier solution and the access control system.

Multilingual support and integration

The solution is custom-built for Bled Castle. It includes four languages, a tailored visual identity, a connection to the bank payment processor for secure transactions, and automatic issuing of print@home tickets with unique QR codes. At the entrance, visitors show the ticket on their smartphone or printed at home, the gate attendant scans it with a handheld reader, and the visitor enters without queueing.

Results of the first season

In the first summer season, the share of online sales rose quickly and reached a significant double-digit percentage of total sales. This relieved pressure on the on-site box office, shortened the queues, and improved visitor satisfaction. People could pick their preferred time slot and pay in advance, all from home.
