Punk Rock Holiday 2026: from ticket sales to the full festival experience

Punk Rock Holiday 2026 in Tolmin is not an ordinary festival, and ticket sales through Mojekarte were not ordinary either. Four days of music at Sotočje, a beach on the Soča river, camping under the trees and around five thousand visitors from more than forty countries who come back every summer. For Punk Rock Holiday 2.6 (the official name of the 2026 edition), held from 11 to 14 August 2026 in Tolmin, we at Mojekarte followed the entire journey of a ticket: from the moment advance sales opened to the moment visitors walked onto the festival site.
Punk Rock Holiday 2026 tickets sold out before a single band was announced
Tickets for Punk Rock Holiday 2026 were gone by early September 2025, with not a single band announced. Only later did it become clear that Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello, Less Than Jake, Lagwagon and Hot Water Music would be coming to Tolmin. For regulars this is perfectly normal: the seventh and eighth editions (2017 and 2018) sold out in ten hours, again without a published line-up. Visitors are not buying a ticket for one name on a poster. They are buying an experience and the trust that the festival will once again be the thing they first fell for.
For a ticketing system, a start like that means one short, extremely intense sales wave. Within a few hours the system has to accept and process thousands of orders, without slowdowns and without lost payments. Those are the moments that show whether the infrastructure is ready.
The ticket is only the beginning
The basic festival ticket at Punk Rock Holiday opens the door to the whole experience: concerts on two stages, camping under the trees and the beach on the Soča. Anyone who wanted more could upgrade. Alongside the basic tickets, the Mojekarte system also sold various upgrades, from the Comfort area to a pre-pitched rental tent or an electricity hook-up at the campsite. The system was not there just to sell standard festival tickets; it carried the entire range of products connected with the festival.
The NOFX documentary and bike tours
Punk Rock Holiday stopped being just a series of concerts a long time ago. Two of the extra activities we brought into the sales system this year stand out. Kinogledališče Tolmin screened 40 Years of Fuckin' Up, the documentary about NOFX. The film is showing exclusively in cinemas, since by all accounts it will not appear on any streaming platform. And there were tickets for Punk Bike, organised bicycle tours. For ticketing this is an important step: the organiser sells the full range of festival products in one place, from the main ticket to a single cinema screening.

One ticketing platform for every festival product
At a festival this size the number of products grows quickly: ticket categories, upgrades, extra activities, special events. The buyer needs a clear view of what is on offer, and the organiser needs the system to show the whole picture at all times: how much of what is selling, when and through which channel. For the visitor this means a simpler purchase. For the organiser, one view of everything, without stitching data together from different sources.

From advance sales to the gate
At the gate, everything that happened over the preceding months is put to the test within a few hours. Every ticket has to be checked quickly and reliably, and the system has to tell ticket types, upgrades and extra activities apart while doing it. The scan result appears in under 0.33 seconds and the app works without an internet connection, which at a festival site is not a luxury but a necessity. At a sold-out festival, every second counts.

More than ticketing: safe resale through TicketSwap
Safe ticket resale is part of the story too. With the festival sold out almost a year in advance, someone's plans always fall through. Through our integration with TicketSwap, the only official resale channel for Punk Rock Holiday, visitors passed their tickets on safely, without fakes and without inflated resale prices.
On a project like Punk Rock Holiday, ticketing is not just selling tickets. It is a system that stays with the visitor from the first click in advance sales to the scan at the gate, and gives the organiser a complete picture the whole way through. All in one place.
And the story is already moving on. Advance sales for Punk Rock Holiday 2.7, taking place in Tolmin in August 2027, open on 1 September 2026 at 10:00 (CEST). Judging by the years so far, they will not take long.
