Travelling cinema 'MOJ KINO' uses the Mojekarte platform

In a time when films are quickly and easily accessible on the internet and urban multiplexes have completely dominated over cinemas in smaller towns, causing their mass closure, it is interesting that someone comes up with the idea of a travelling cinema. The idea itself is not new, as travelling cinemas existed during the period between the two world wars and for some time after the Second World War as well. The travelling Moj kino has adapted to the challenges of today with modern technologies and new business models. The classic cinema projector and celluloid film have been replaced by state-of-the-art laser technology for film projection, while the new business model has included municipalities in financing the project, whose financial participation enables Moj kino to set up its screen twice a month in a local hall and screen films in Kranjska gora, Jesenice, Medvode, Kamnik, Ilirska Bistrica, Ajdovscina, Postojna, Sevnica, Slovenske konjice, Sentjur, Ravne na Koroskem, and Zalec.
Simon Suler, initiator and operator of the Moj kino project: "Before multiplexes appeared in Slovenia, which started happening around the year 2000, almost every larger town had a cinema, and film screenings were an inseparable part of local cultural life and reasonably well attended. The infrastructure from those times is still in surprisingly good condition, even though in many places it has not been in use for years, as the halls were simply closed. With state-of-the-art digital laser technology for film projection, which is the only one of its kind in the wider region, an excellent sound processor, a solid speaker system, and a large professional screen, we have revived these underutilised halls in smaller towns and brought films back to them. In the first phase of the project, we want to bring film programming closer to audiences in twelve municipalities across Slovenia, and we hope that the good examples will extend beyond municipal borders and that some additional municipalities will decide to join the project. Through the Moj kino project, we want to provide a current and quality film offering, and we will ensure an authentic cinema experience with soft drinks and snacks, with popular popcorn naturally included."
Zoran Bistrički: "At DRAGON Ticketing, we found the idea of a travelling cinema interesting and gladly accepted the challenge of providing information support for this project, which is practically tailor-made for the multi-functional DRAGON Venue platform. The travelling cinema's mobile box office is equipped with two sets of equipment for ticket sales and catering, each of which includes: a compact all-in-one computer, a fast thermal printer for printing tickets and receipts, an electronic cash drawer, and a scanner for scanning vouchers. This basic sales equipment set is enhanced with wireless internet and an ultra-modern Zebra TC8000 handheld scanner for electronic ticket validation at the hall entrance. Sales staff use an integrated user interface at the box offices that enables simultaneous sale of tickets and catering products, while the software automatically handles the printing of tickets and receipts. The clarity, simplicity, and ergonomics of the user interface ensure speed and efficiency at the box office, which can easily handle three to four sales transactions per minute. At this operating speed, it is possible to sell out tickets for a 300-seat hall, with both box offices operating simultaneously, in less than 20 minutes. Advance ticket sales are also excellently organised -- visitors can buy tickets at the online shop Mojkino (http://mojkino.mojekarte.si/si/celotna-ponudba.html), and through the Mojekarte.si network also at all Petrol petrol stations."
